FY20 Impact Report shows resilient research enterprise
A pandemic year brought historic challenges, but once again Northwestern research thrived in fiscal year 2020, becoming the largest academic research site in Illinois.
In addition to remaining among the top-10 national universities, Northwestern marked another record-breaking year of sponsored research funding, with our investigators attracting a total of $887.3 million to support their work. This impressive research harnessed thought leadership from across all schools and units, including many efforts at the intersection of disciplines. Northwestern researchers also were active in helping combat the pandemic, producing innovations in the lab as well as in the community to better understand the novel coronavirus and its transmission.
